Every Fifteen Minutes Lisa Scottoline Books
Sometimes you're in the mood for fast paced escapist fiction. This book fits that bill fairly well. If you don't expect too much and can suspend disbelief it can be a fun few hours of escapism. I will say that for an intelligent man, the protagonist of the story did some awfully stupid things. At times I thought he actually deserved to lose custody of his daughter (a subplot) because of his poor judgement. I also agree with another reviewer that the most interesting character was the attorney, Paul. All that said, I gave this book three stars simply for entertainment value.Tags : Amazon.com: Every Fifteen Minutes (9781250010117): Lisa Scottoline: Books,Lisa Scottoline,Every Fifteen Minutes,St. Martin's Press,125001011X,FICTION Suspense,FICTION Suspense.,FICTION Thrillers,FICTION Thrillers.,Murder - Investigation,Philadelphia (Pa.),Psychiatrists,Psychopaths,Suspense fiction,Suspense fiction.,060101 St Martins Trade Fiction,AMERICAN MYSTERY & SUSPENSE FICTION,FICTION Thrillers General,FICTION Thrillers Medical,Fiction,Fiction - Espionage Thriller,Fiction-Thriller,FictionLiterary,FictionThrillers - Medical,FictionThrillers - Suspense,GENERAL,General Adult,MysterySuspense,SCOTTOLINE, LISA - PROSE & CRITICISM,Thriller suspense,Thrillers - General,Thrillers - Medical,Thrillers - Suspense,Thrillers Suspense,United States, medical mysteries; medical thrillers; medical fiction; mystery thriller suspense; conspiracy thriller; psychological thriller; psychological thrillers; murder mystery; thriller books; mysteries thrillers and suspense; best thrillers; top thrillers; mystery thriller books; thriller genre; mystery and thrillers; mystery thrillers; thriller novels; thriller authors; thrillers for women; serial killers; stalkers,FictionThrillers - Suspense,Thrillers - General,Thrillers - Medical,Thrillers - Suspense,Thrillers Suspense,Fiction - Espionage Thriller,American Mystery & Suspense Fiction,Fiction,MysterySuspense,Thriller suspense
Every Fifteen Minutes Lisa Scottoline Books Reviews
This book was satisfying on so many levels. Having researched her topic very well, Scottoline, takes her readers through a maze of conflicting paths, only to arrive at the end with an even bigger surprise. Thank you, Lisa Scottoline, for a most informative and entertaining read.
This was a good book for those of us fascinated by the field of psychiatry. However I felt the narrative was bogged down with too much detail. For example l understand that details of rooms, etc are necessary for setting the mood but this author seemed intent on doing this too frequently. In addition I enjoy an ending which incorporates clues throughout the story but this book didn't ironically provide that information. However I usually enjoy Scottolina's novels this was just not one of my favorites.
This book was a messy read for me. It was all over the place. In several parts, the editing was terribly confusing. It would go from the 'good guys talking' to the 'bad guy' talking without even a paragraph break. Not even the next sentence. The dialogue would just continue as if I should know who's talking when.
Also, I was surprised at how wordy this book was. If I liked it better I might not mind but this book, well I just wanted to finish and go on to a better book by another author.
I love Lisa Scottoline, but in a beach novel, page turning kind of way. Her women are spunky and REAL, and fun to follow; but usually there's a convenient plot twist that causes everything to work out in the end.
This book is on another plane. It is gripping, confusing, tight and - remarkable though the near total collapse of the Doctor's life in about a week's time may be - believable. Up until the moment it became clear who the manipulator was, I had three good suspects in mind and a couple not so good ones too!
If you buy this book and like it, and want more buy Look Again. Though not quite as tight as Every Fifteen Minutes, it is also a gripping and very believable story.
Also, if you ever get a chance to see Lisa in person, do it. She does the Barnes & Noble circuit in support of her releases sometimes. She is just as delightful and entertaining as her characters!
This story drug on and on, I did keep on reading because I thought with the reviews i read it would eventually get really great. Way to much detail as if the reader had to know all the details of what each occupation of every characters job description, how the justice system works etc... I also skipped thru the mumbo jumbo of much of the medical research that was done for this book that was quite textbook. I will read more of this author to see if another book is like a reading a research paper that never ends.
Not, bad, in spite of a seriously unlikeable protagonist. Waaaaaay to much of a goody-two-shoes for me, especially for a grown man, even more so for a psychiatrist who you would think would have a greater measure of street smarts at that stage of his life. I could never come to terms with his strange behavior- or is it possible he was just that naive? Whatever, how can anyone possibly deal with an adult male, a professional, who repeatedly calls the women in his life - and the things they do - "cute" and "adorable"? Jeepers. A girlie-guy for sure. Not someone I'd choose to spend time with, in real life.
That said, I do credit the author for any number of stunning - and completely surprising, to me, anyway - plot twists. Well done indeed! I both read the book and listened to the Audible version - purchasing error on my part - and in listening, even though I remembered the basic plot structure from having read it long before, I was still fascinated by how the author ended it, how she set us up for it from the beginning. That is great storytelling, and deserves lots of praise - although probably not a third reading, at least not by me. Still, a worthy read!
Lisa Scottoline does it again. Fantastic, fast paced who done it that you don't see coming. Dr. Eric Parish was a fabulous Chief of the Psychiatric Unit of Havermeyer Hospital, just outside of Philadelphia. He is in the midst of a divorce from his wife , and is trying to be the best father to his seven year old daughter Hannah whom he loves dearly. All of a sudden he gets a patient with OCD named Max and his entire life turns upside down. He is being framed for a murder among other things by a sociopath. Who is doing that to him? Once you think you may know who the sociopath is, the story takes another turn, another twist and an ending that I didn't see coming. Great read. Highly recommend this book. Love her writing.
