I discovered this series by doing my usual "let's go hunting", which in my world is let's go find new book, New stories, New authority's, and HOT covers.
I actually downloaded the sample (one of about 200 I have in my kindle plus about the same in my Nook) of A King's Revenge first as it sounded promising when I realized it was a series.. I went back to locate the earlier book and wasn't to impressed with what was in the sample but I really don't like not reading in order soooo I took the chance and read the Overlords book first and I absolutely loved it which made reading this book so much more fun and enjoyable.
I have to admit though that the Overlord is my favorite out of the two and I don't believe you would understand this storyline as much without the previous book.
It's sad to think this was it. I want more hummmm who could manage to tick off an obsessed overlord, two trouble making wives, two finding trouble twins, one hot king and a whole bunch of got to have warlords?
I'm sure there's a store somewhere for a couple of adorable warlords running around or wait, wait, wait what about overlord's brother ? Yes i want him next..

Oh fun just found two more stories in this series. Hope one is the brother,,, better be.....

This is the third book I've read by this author. The first was Honor Bound which was excellent. This was also an excellent story. I was engaged from the beginning and it has an interesting plot twist that keeps the reader riveted to the very end. While it can be read as a stand alone, it is better understood if you read Honor abound and Overlord's Heir first. My only critical observation is that the book has some grammatical and other errors that should have been caught during editing. For example using the word "stairs" instead of "stares". Ms. Howard is fast becoming one of my favorite authors.
The story was pleasant, not blow you away, but not bad by any means. Terik was a solid character, smart and likeable, and Lea was ok. Overall I thought the story was a little safe, the characters likable but not remarkable. Which sums up the whole thing, really. The story is not complex enough to really stand out. I enjoyed it but found it sadly lacking that certain something to make me read it again.
I thought that this had a great story line. I could see who the traitor was from the beginning but that didn't take away from the book. Tarik and Lea are two people that you really want to see together.
The story moved a little slowly at times and there were some things that didn't fit, and the passion between the two didn't sizzle as much as I would have thought. Tarik let himself get dragged into the minutiae of running his kingdom (not the major stuff but minor) instead of taking care of Lea.
A King's Revenge, book 2 in the Warlord's series. I think the King's Lost Queen, would have been a better title, that's just me. This is a fun fast read with some steamy loven!. I loved King Tarik, while not a Warlord, he is still pretty cool. The Overlord and Warlord's, were not left out. I really loved Lea, she is just as fun as Miki. Kord is a interesting character, hope to learn more about him. I really liked the world building, and the introduction to the Alliance. Looking forward to a 2.5 book on Tarik and Lea. Can't wait to see what happens next in the world of the Warlord's!
Wonderful second story in the Warlord series. I loved Tarik and Lea, and their story about rediscovering their love together was touching. Tarik was strong, protective, and incredibly supportive. I loved that he allowed Lea to set the tone in many ways. Lea was strong as well - and incredibly adaptive! I wasn't sure about Kord at first - I didn't agree that he had any right to take Lea away from Tarik or keep her away. But I was very glad that Michelle didn't drag out Tarik finding out who Lea was. I loved see Mikayla and Vaan again, along with their Warlords. The only reason I gave this a 4 instead of a 5 was that it was quite obvious who the traitor was going to be. A little more mystery in that area would have made the plot stronger.
Looking forward to more about the Warlords!
While l liked this one - it was less believable than the others involving Vaan & the Warlords. The characters didn't respond in a manner I felt was believable - everyone forgave everyone else for the great deceit - WTH? The king was so willfully stupid & so slow to protect - I began to feel annoyed.

However, I enjoyed the Warlord Series - so far books 1 - 3.5 have come out & I look forward to the next ones. I don't think of myself as much of a fan of 'fantasy' world settings but this one and the Ice Planet Barbarian world by Ruby Dixon I've enjoyed quite a bit & will reread them I'm sure. There's a strong medieval element (although in 3.5 a reference to a freezer humming was very unexpected!). The interplay between characters evolves as the story unwinds - which I enjoy. There's some sex - not a lot - could use a bit more - but some good action scenes that continue the storylines well. I did get confused sometimes with the high number of characters (especially since so many have similar names!) flitting in & out. I'm happy that there are repeat appearances by the characters in subsequent books in the series - especially pleasing in 3.5. I feel like I'm more immersed in the world when the primary characters are in sequels & you can see their lives developing. I didn't feel any of the scenes depicted rape - one of the earlier sex scenes was more along the lines of clueless warrior & consenting but disappointed bride. Only suggestion to the author would be to give some of the characters more depth or edge - something they have to overcome versus just cultural issues. To date all of the main characters have lost someone (typically parents) too young but they're well-adjusted, faithful, honorable, more or less happy with their lot in life & maybe a bit grumpy - no bitterness, no deep, gnawing hunger (Im thinking of some of the early Amanda Quick / JAK like Desire or Julie Garwood's Lion's Lady).
